HealthBlock: A Framework for a Collaborative Sharing of Electronic Health Records Based on Blockchain

Electronic health records (EHRs) play an important role in our life. However, most of the time, they are scattered and saved on different databases belonging to distinct institutions (hospitals, laboratories, clinics, etc.) geographically distributed across one or many countries. Due this decentralization heterogeneity involved systems, medical staff facing difficulties correctly collaborating by sharing, protecting, tracking their patient’s electronic health-record history provide them with best care. Additionally, patients have no control over private EHRs. Blockchain has promising future uses for healthcare domain because it provides a better solution sharing data while preserving integrity, interoperability, availability classical client–server architectures used manage EHRS. This paper proposes framework called HealthBlock collaboratively EHRs privacy preservation. Different technologies been combined achieve goal. The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) technology stores shares patients’ off-chain storage ensures record’s immutability; Hyperledger Indy gives full EHRs, Fabric patient-access policy delegations.
